FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Why is the Vitamin K shot required for enrollment?
At birth, babies have very low Vitamin K. It’s lowest around day 2 or 3. Without enough, babies can have a rare but serious bleeding problem called VKDB. To protect babies, we give the Vitamin K shot in the first 24 hours or soon after birth. Click here for more information on VKDB and Vitamin K.

💡 Expectant parents: Please plan for your baby to receive Vitamin K at birth or as soon as possible in order to be eligible for enrollment.
